Good news! The Sangamon County Animal Control adoption application is now available in a fillable electronic format, and your completed application can be submitted via email or fax! Or bring your completed app with you when you come in to meet our purrfectly pawesome available felines!

Adopt a Shelter Cat

This time of year is often extremely busy for shelters, as they are often overwhelmed with kittens. Whether you take home a kitten or an adult cat who is looking for a second chance at their forever home, every adoption saves two lives - the fur baby you take home, and the fur baby you've helped make room for. Adopting from a shelter is also economical! See the chart below for a breakdown and comparison of accepting a “free” kitten or adopting from a shelter. The value of adopting is clear.
